Hiring a solar installer in Pleasanton
In California, solar installs need a contractor with a C-46 Solar or C-10 Electrical license from the CSLB, plus a city permit and utility approval. You can look up a contractor's license at cslb.ca.gov.
Questions to ask
- New PG&E solar customers are on the Net Billing Tariff, which favors adding a battery. Ask the installer to model your savings under it.
- If your roof is near the end of its life, replace it before installing panels.
- Compare buying, loans and leases on total cost, not just the monthly payment.
- Ask about the warranty on panels, inverter, battery and roof penetrations.
What affects the price
- System size
- Battery
- Roof type and condition
- Electrical panel upgrades
