Hiring a painter in Stockton
In California, painting jobs of $1,000 or more need a C-33 Painting license from the CSLB. Homes built before 1978 need lead-safe (EPA RRP) work practices. You can look up a contractor's license at cslb.ca.gov.
Questions to ask
- Ask what prep is included: patching, sanding, caulking and primer.
- Ask which paint line and how many coats are in the quote.
- For homes built before 1978, ask for the painter's lead-safe (RRP) certification.
- Get colors picked before the start date to avoid delays.
