Hiring a pool and spa pro in Sacramento
In California, pool construction and repairs of $1,000 or more need a C-53 Swimming Pool license from the CSLB. New pools need drowning-prevention safety features. You can look up a contractor's license at cslb.ca.gov.
Questions to ask
- For a new or remodeled pool, ask which safety features (fence, alarms, cover) are included.
- Ask about variable-speed pumps; they use far less electricity.
- For weekly service, ask what's included: chemicals, filter cleaning, equipment checks.
What affects the price
- Repair vs. remodel
- Pool size
- Equipment choice
- Finish materials
