Storm questions

Where can I get free sandbags in Santa Clara County?
Valley Water offers free filled sandbags for Santa Clara County residents at its sandbag sites, usually November through April, and many cities run their own sites. See valleywater.org for the current list.
What should I do right after a storm damages my home?
Stay clear of downed lines, take dated photos of all damage before cleanup, stop further damage if it's safe (tarp, move belongings, shut off water), then get written repair estimates for your insurer.
When should I clean my gutters in the Bay Area?
Before the first big rain of the season, usually October or November, and again after leaves finish falling. Clogged gutters are a common cause of roof edge and foundation leaks.
